FAQs

We’re here to answer your questions

Here’s where we answer the most common questions with clarity and care.

What is Kinetic Therapy and how can it help me?

Kinetic Therapy is a movement-focused treatment designed to improve mobility, reduce pain, and correct dysfunctional movement patterns. At Heavy Mettle, we use it to help clients in St Helens, Warrington, Widnes and surrounding areas overcome long-term aches, injuries and mobility issues by retraining the body to move efficiently and without discomfort.

What can I expect during a Kinetic Therapy session?

Each session begins with a detailed movement assessment to identify imbalances, restrictions or compensations. From there, we use a combination of hands-on techniques, corrective exercises and functional movement retraining — a personalised approach designed to improve mobility, reduce pain and enhance overall performance.

Is Kinetic Therapy suitable if I have chronic pain or recurring injuries?

Absolutely. Kinetic Therapy is ideal for those dealing with long-term pain, stiffness or repeated strains because it focuses on the root cause — not just the symptoms. We assess how your body moves and create a tailored plan to restore proper function.

Is Kinetic Therapy right for athletes or people who train regularly?

Yes — Kinetic Therapy is highly effective for athletes and active individuals who want to move better, prevent injury or improve performance. Many clients in St Helens, Warrington and Widnes use it alongside personal training or sports massage to keep their bodies functioning at their best.

How many Kinetic Therapy sessions will I need?

It varies depending on your goals and the severity of your movement issues. Some clients feel improvements after just one or two sessions, while others benefit from a structured programme over several weeks. We create a plan that fits your needs — whether you’re looking for quick relief or long-term functional change.

Does Muscle Scraping hurt?

Most clients describe the sensation as intense but manageable. Areas with significant tension may feel more sensitive during treatment, but it should always be tolerable.

Will I bruise after IASTM?

Some clients experience mild redness or temporary marking. This varies depending on tissue condition and individual response, and usually settles within a few hours to a couple of days.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the condition, duration of symptoms and your goals. Some clients notice significant improvement after one session, while others need more. A good ballpark number is 3–5 sessions.

Is Muscle Scraping better than Sports Massage?

Both treatments have their place. If you’re a little tight, tense or need relaxation, sports massage is the way to go. If you’re in pain and injured, muscle scraping is the best option. In many cases, combining sports massage and IASTM provides great results.

Can I train after treatment?

Most clients can continue training, although specific recommendations may be provided depending on your condition and treatment response.
